April Construction Update

Apr 5, 2021

When building a high rise like Lied Place Residences, construction crews are dependent upon a crane for large portions of the work – and when storms and heavy winds blow through, the crane is shut down for safety. Expert planning counterbalances the seasonal factors  surrounding projects, and the team at Lied Place continues to enclose the structure while beginning the interior finishes of each unit.

Concrete for Level 20 was poured in mid-March for a current height of 209 feet, and the next is scheduled for the coming weeks. With two housing levels and two roof levels to go, the crew is finally nearing the end of the complex, labor-intensive concrete pours required for Lied Place. Exterior framing has commenced on Level 16, interior framing finished on Level 14, and windows are being installed on Levels 14 and 15. Rough-in work, the phase of a project in which mechanical, electrical, and plumbing lines are integrated into the build, is completed up to Level 12. Work on the elevator shaft and accompanying components continues to advance smoothly, and the crew has started placing exterior siding. Drywall and paint are finished up to Level 11.

The first-floor restaurant space is also seeing progress this past month, as designers and architects are working to incorporate a separate air filtration system for every seating area. Inspired by the pandemic and thinking ahead toward the future, this arrangement provides clean air for each group of patrons, not mixing with the air of surrounding tables. As the project timeline reaches toward a shift in focus to interior work, other similar innovative elements could be incorporated throughout Lied Place Residences.
